Maintenance Mechanic
The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining public housing units, buildings, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. This position requires a dependable, skilled, and self-motivated individual capable of performing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks with minimal supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
• Respond to resident work orders and perform repairs in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete apartment turnover tasks, including pre- and post-move-out inspections, repairs, painting, and cleaning.
• Diagnosing and repairing issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, texture work, and other general maintenance needs.
• Maintain building exteriors, common areas, and grounds, including trash removal, pressure washing, lawn care, and general upkeep.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, HUD requirements, and Housing Authority policies.
• Assist with or oversee special maintenance projects and ensure completion within established deadlines and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs completed, materials used, and project timelines.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one (1) year of hands-on maintenance experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to perform physical labor and operate maintenance equipment safely.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (Motor Vehicle Record check required).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
